Year 11 and 12 Program Coordinator Report

Well it has been a busy start to the year so I want to start by just acknowledging all of our staff for helping our Year 11’s adjust really quickly and for getting the Year 12’s straight down to business.  Can I also take this opportunity  to recognise the hard work that Ms Maguire put into the Year 12 cohort as the Year 11 Coordinator last year. Thank you so much.

Friday Period 1

Year 11 students have been assigned a meeting period on Fridays period 1. This is a scheduled class and so students are required to be in their classes as part of their attendance. This period will be used for things such as workshops, seminars, OLNA support, careers information and study support sessions

Year 12 students will be provided with a range of workshops and seminars across the year. These sessions relate to relevant WACE information, skills for productive study and careers information, along with strategies for time and stress management. Information pertaining to these sessions is distributed through Mentor and via Connect. All Year 12 students are expected to attend the sessions that are scheduled. If they’re not required for Friday period 1 then the expectation is for them to be here well in time for the start of their respective period 2 class.

The event schedule will be placed on Connect and updated regularly.

Mentor classes

It is really important that in Year 11 and 12 all students attend mentor class. This is where the majority of information will get disseminated and mentor teachers a really valuable resource for all students. Please make sure you get to mentor class each day.

I would like to just remind everybody that Year 11 and 12 can be a really demanding so as well as working to the best of their ability, it is crucial to have a good life balance. This includes things like including strategies to relieve the stress and pressure of senior schooling, being  mentally and physically healthy to manage the demands of Year 11 and 12. Please feel free to contact me if things are getting on top of you so we can work out a plan,  sooner rather than later.
