VOCATIONAL EDUCATION & TRAINING

WORK PLACE LEARNING –  SEMESTER 1, 2021

ALL Year 11 and 12 students on a General/VET pathway are expected to participate in the school's Work Place Learning program.

An Authority-developed endorsed program (ADWPL), work place learning provides students with opportunities to immerse themselves in the world of work, meet employers, learn new skills and gain confidence when interacting with others.

Many opportunities for casual or full-time employment, traineeships and apprenticeships have resulted from students participating in work place learning.

The following dates are made available by the school, for students to be released from class and to attend Work Place Learning (in place of ATAR exams).

Please put these dates in your diary:

wp1.jpgStudents should be checking on the Connect (Year 11 or Year 12) VET classroom for important notices regarding work place learning – including the documentation requirements for attendance which include completion of the relevant WorkSafe SmartMove certificate and successful completion of the Work Place Readiness quiz.  Links for these are posted in the Connect Notices.

Students must also complete the WPL forms which were provided during Mentor, have them signed by parent/carer where indicated and return to the VET office with details for the company or business which has agreed to accepting the student for WPL over these dates.  Whilst it may be appropriate for parents to call on behalf of the student, we strongly encourage students to make the first contact with the employer themselves – or ideally, pop in to the place of business and make an introduction in-person.
Additional forms are available from the VET office and these must be completed and returned by the end of Term 1.

Please contact Mrs Hamilton (VET Coordinator) or Mrs Rubery in the VET office with any questions.
