Japanese Update

The Japanese Club has finally started up again, thanks to Mami-sensei. Japanese Club is to learn about and experience traditional Japanese culture and language. Every second week, due to popular demand, we also hold Anime Club, where our anime-niacs get together and watch and discuss anime. Japanese Club and Anime Club is held on Thursday lunchtimes in L3.
Harmony Week was also a great event for the Japanese program this year! Not only was the whole school able to see the very talented Taiko troupe (organised by Lauren Johnson) but Mami Hibino, our very own Japanese Language Assistant, played her sanshin and did an eisa dance (a traditional Okinawan dance). She is a fabulous performer and it was so great to see the students enjoying such an authentic cultural experience. She was also joined on the sanshin by her Host Mother and one of the organisers of the Perth Sanshin Club, Lyndie. Just another positive outcome created through the Department of Education’s incredibly valuable Assistant Language Teacher program!
